Hallo,
From the OTN Website I’ve downloaded the Oracle Database Server 9i Enterprise Edition and Oracle Designer 6i Release 4. Both I’ve installed on a Windows 2000 Professional SP2 machine, first the Database Server and afterwards the Designer. Both installations succeeded, only Designer wanted a new Oracle Home and a new path (for the new Oracle Home). I stepped through the installation in using standard or default values.
So on the Server theres one database Ora90, where I can log in with the account SYSTEM/manager (done with the Enterprise Manager Console).
When I start the designer, I must fill out a login form with username, password and connect string.
What have I to write here?
Trying SYSTEM/manager/Ora90 fails, with the messages
(1) ORA-12154: TNS: The service name specified is not defined correctly in the
TNSNAMES.ORA file.
(2) RME-00220: Failed to connect to Repository
What have I to do, to get Designer run? Please be patient, I’m a newbie with the Oracle platform. It will be great, if somebody can give me step by step hints.
Kind regards
Stephan
