Has anyone implemented the Designated License Manager (DLM) way of licencing their 3300 controllers?

We have a customer that has two 3300 MXe controllers with MCD6 located in London and have recently added a 3300 CX II with MCD6 located in Paris. All 3 systems are in the same Cluster and can communicate between each other.

All 3 currently get the licences via the AMC.

We were hoping to implement licence sharing for the London offices but I didn't know if it would be ok to exclude the Paris system from the Group ARID.

The reason for not including the Paris system is they have all the licences they need and I am concerned about the system becoming in a state of "Licence Violation" if there was a serious issue with the VPN link.

Any advice or questions are welcome!

I have minimal experience with DLM but will give my 2c.

1. SWA has to line up (i.e. they must all end at the same time) to be in the same GARID.
2. The controllers ARID should only have the base enterprise PBX software against them, all other licenses should be assigned to the GARID.
3. I don't believe there is a problem leaving out Paris from the GARID, it just means that you will have to transfer licensing via the AMC in the event you want move licensing around.

As I said my experience is very little as I have only implemented this once recently.

Why would you leave Paris out? As long as you don't make that the DLM there would be no issue. I would create a license group for all (as you will reap the most benefit). I have only ever done this from start up but as you start with the individual App records anyway I dont see there being a problem

Thanks for replies guys.

Only reason I am thinking of leaving Paris out is after reading some of the guides it mentions that if the 3300 loses communication with the DLM then it goes into Licence Violation after a period of time.

I dont want them affected by this if there is a major fault with the VPN link.

By leaving them out they can continue to be a separate stand alone system but with the benefits of calling extensions in London.
