Design concept feedback

Hey all,

I'm just about complete an inital design for my new personal site... I'm strictly looking for design feedback (colors, layout, etc.) as design is my weakest point. The site will be flash (ok, go ahead and flame me for it ) and the pic will be a video...

Please don't pay attention to the text (spelling or otherwise) as it is placeholder for the time being.

Hi AtomicChip.
One thing I would say (and this is all IMHO of course) is that the text is quite hard to read. There isn't much contrast between the text and background colours.
I personally like very 'clean' sites with a white background and then two or three other colours. Obviously you're going to use Flash so you may nwat to go down a different route, but I think that accessibility should still be paramount.
IMHO a well designed website is one you don't really notice while reading the content.

I'm replying three weeks after your post so maybe you revised your design since then but ... The image loaded very small in my browser. I had to drag it onto my desktop to see it properly. I really like it. It looks like an old War War II document. It's meant to look a bit "murky." The dark red background compliments the khaki colors of the document. Design is your weakest point? Very clever layout in my opinion.
