Derived Fields and Detail

I have a report that pulls Checkview information from ADP. It is looking at 26 pay periods and combing them into one summed figure. I then have the report grouped and total. One of my paycodes is showing the grouped total but not the amount per employeed. When I unclick "hide detail" the amounts are there, but when I rehide the detail, it shows a zero by the employee name.

For example Jane Doe 0
John Smith 0
Total by Dept 600

Unhiding detail shows Jane Doe had 600 hours, but rehiding it shows 0.

Any ideas? ReportSmith 4.2, pulling from PC/Payroll 5.
