deploying with merge modules

We use asp.net 2005. We are getting our Crystal info from a book for 2003. In 2003 the deployment required merge modules for crystal. The author walked us through this, but they our not there for 2005.

We have seen something for downloads for merge modules for 2005, but although links exist the download sites no longer exist. We some info that merge modules no longer are in 2005 but they use install files. Our other training books for deploying asp.net don't talk about 3rd party apps during deployment.

We have no good walk through of what we need for 3rd party applications to work with the deployment.

Can anyone give us the info on how to do this?

We did find the walk throughs this morning which confirmed that we needed merge modules.

But this site is where all the links to the downloads were busted, or would not give us access in (even though we are registered users on their site.)

My co-worker did find forum post that linked to a backdoor that finally got us past the unauthorized carp. So just 5 minutes b4 you posted we got them.


Took us 1 1/2 days of frustration to get it though.

I needed to install a package on the server to get crystal running. the package is located here:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SDK\v2.0\BootStrapper\Packages\CrystalReports\CRRedist2005_x86.msi

This is possibly one of the files (if you have an 86-bit machine type. But it was not in our c: drive (we searched).. And we went back to VS install software, not there although we have VS 2005 Professional Edition which does come with crystal.

I think when we put it in this merge module, then install that on the server it will install this.. So have the same effect as you manually doing it..

There were 3 choices depending on your machine type, we got all 3 from the downloaded area we finally found..
