I have access 2007 and have just deployed version 1 of my software using the runtime version of Access for those without. Can someone please point me in the right direction of a web page / book that deals with upgrades and how I output amendments without overwriting what I have just deployed....

Many Thanks

Jon

If you're deploying to users you should be using a data db and a gui db. The gui should not have any data stored locally (other than temp tables that you create/overwrite each time). This way you can redeploy new versions and updates when you need to without affecting the data. Data structure updates are a little more tricky, but you can still deploy these updates by using VBA to open the data db and apply alter table statements.

Thanks timfoster.

I realised too late that I should have followed this path!

Would you suggest putting the vba changes into the 'startup' program as a 'runonce' to alter tables etc.?
