Can someone please explain a procedure for deploying an MDB file ... Basically I have created an MDB file project and now want to make a release copy for use on a clients machine (sourcesafe not installed) ... I do not want to close the project as there could be more changes coming ... I just want a clean version of the DB that I can run on the clients machine.

I thought the generate database from the Project would do this but it appears to want to make another Project ... I tried also creating a backup but it is still thinking it is part of the project under the original name ... I tried a compact and repair and it is asking if the compressed source should be removed from the project??? I don't want to do this because it sounds like it will destroy my project files.

All I need is a procedure to get a SOURCESAFE free version of the Current Development version.

Sorry I was close but was thrown off by the wording in the process and help files ... for future reference;

The Addin for ACCESS has help files sccaccus.hlp ... dredging this help file (Project Files; Removing from source code control) revealed that:

A) to release/deploy an MDB file, use the compact and repair and answer yes to removing the sourcesafe links from the compacted database ... This doesn't touch the Project files or their contents

B) to then Continue working with the project files, use the create Database from Project files ... this then recreates the MDB file from the Vault
