Hello, I am new to Interbase. I have created a delphi application that uses an IB database. Now I need to create a setup file so that when it runs on client machine the database will be set up and ready to be used by the application.

Since the client machine may or may not have IB Server running on it, I have to bundle the server in the setup file as well. I am lost as to what files I need to include in the setup and what steps to follow to have the setup file set up the server once the files are copied on the client machine?

PS: I do not wish to use ODBC.

Thanks a lot in advance.%-)

I would use the interbase installation CD. The aliases can be created with installshield, together with the setup of your application. Steven van Els

Hi Sazehra,

this message indicates that you haven't started the InterBase server. Start IBConsole and start the server, then try the application again - should work ;-)

BTW: does someone know how to start the IB Server from an application when it is not yet running? That could be handy in local apps as well.

Cheers,
Matthias
