Hi, I have created a database that links to tables in a SQL database using an OBDC database connection. There are a couple of people in my department who need to access this database. Is there a way I can deploy the database so that all users have access to the same data? Or do I need to set up OBDC connections on everyone's machine?
Thanks,
Michael Kohler

When you link you create an ODBC connection you can select machine or file as your DSN.

If you select one of them and use it for your linked table connection, you do not need to setup the ODBC connection on each machine. I want to say the DSN method to use is File but if my memory has it backwards it is Machine. Please post back which it is for anyone looking at this thread later.

Also worth mentioning is that you might consider looking into a "DSN-less" connection. This is one of several things you might do for security considerations. Another is to use an ACDE file to keep people from seeing the code in the database with the password for the connection if one is required. It is much easier if you can manage permissions with just windows security groups and SQL server security.
