depatching

I'm not sure this term even relates to programming but could anyone help me in finding out what "depatching" is. The sentence it was used in was for a job specification and the sentence goes: Skill set must also include excellent knowledge of Ethernet (RS232), patching and depatching.

Anyone even want to hazard a guess?
