The redundancy has now been fixed, but in the next-to-last paragraph, there's still a homonym:

Their roll in the incident is being investigated by federal officials.

So, this beating occured shortly after the Hurricane Katrina was photographed and videotaped by The Associated Press, but what bearing does the timing of their filming have to do with documenting the beating ;-)
