Demoting DC results in disk space alerts?

Hi

I have a DC that I want to demote, but when I do 2 of my many servers breaks down. I use IP Monitor to monitor disk space and this alert gets triggered, the ping test is fine though.

Funny thing is that its only 2 servers and promoting the DCs again fixes it.

Why would I get the alarms to say disk space is low on the 2 member servers? The low space alarms are just a symptom, the actual cause is that the monitoring software can no longer access the drives to check their size, probably due to permissions. But why these 2 servers are dependant on the DC is beyoned me, I have other DC's and global catalogs on the domain so they should be able to function normally.

The applications on the 2 servers also break, so my question is how can 2 out of 30 servers need a particular DC to function properly?

Thanks
