Demote DC but Retain DNS

Hello, An easy one I expect but need confirmation before I go ahead. I need to remove AD from an ageing W2k DC but need to retain the DNS service. It is one of two DNS servers and needs to stay opertional. If I go down the DCpromo route will DNS be affected in any way?

DNS will only run on a DC. If you demote the server, it can no longer perform DNS functions.

This is not true. DNS although required by AD is independent of the DCPromo function and will remain functional after removal.

My apologies, but I was mistaken on this. You can dcpromo the server and it will not effec the DNS running on it.
