I have a Delphi 4 App that has all the labels held in a resource file, and this resource file was set-up to include "foreign language" translations (French/Geman/Portugese). This feature was never used, but now it is required.
However, not all foreign characters display correctly when the app is run. (they are correct when the RC file is displayed using Notepad)

I have a feeling it might be something to do with the VCL - can anyone confirm this, and would it be ok if the program was built using a later version of Delphi ?

Thanks for that - something I didn't think of was that the original programmer had changed the font to Arial. Changed it back to MS Sans Serif and all was ok!

Now my only problem is to get the items in the Paradox tables displayed correctly!

Problem with the Paradox tables appears to be a bit more complex. Even changing the font doesn't help.

The problem is the same in both the Delphi App and Paradox - basically some of the "non-standard" characters display incorrectly. e.g. Câble d’embrayage displays as Câble d#embrayage

I have changed all the regional settings on my PC so that it is set up as Frnch (or German), and the input locals. I have changed the Paradox language drivers in the BDE, but they seem to make no difference.

The data is imported into Paradox tables, from CSV files, using the Paradox import routine. I have tried it under various Windows Regional settings and different BDE settings, but the problem remains

What I havn't yet figured is whether the problem occurs at this stage or not. All I do know is that if the data is exported to text again, the text file has the incorrect characters in it.

Have you tried opening the paradox table into Word/Notepad to see if they are stored correctly?

Everyone has a right to my opinion.

I had similar problems with chinese,

finaly I found that I need to set the standart to the used language.

Settings/Control Panel/Regional Options/language settings for the system / set default
