Hi Folks,
i am currently writing a small delphi application to create several file export formats such as excel spreadsheets, DBF files, etc. without using ODBC or OLE APIs and interfaces.
I would be greatly interested in the SAS dataset internal structure. Has anybody heard about any doc or API or code piece explaining how a SAS Institute dataset is constructed, what it is composed of and its internal structure ?
thanks in advance
Cheers

I don't know anything about SAS but there are a number of sites that document file formats.

This one, for example, has a description of the SAS transport (XPORT) format. Is that any use?

There are several other sites. Try using Google.

Andrew,
thanks for your reply. I didn't know this site. SO i just had a look and i really found part of the infos i am looking for. Still missing the dataset and its records layout. You mentionned several sites for theses infos. Any references ?
thanks in advance.

Do a Google search for 'file format' or something else that is appropriate.

I only looked at the one at the top of the Google list but there seemed to be several which might contain the information you need.
