Dell w1700 won't display video 1

Hi,

I have a dell W1700 connected to my Sony Vaio laptop. I can view media in Windows Media Player without any problem on the laptop's screen. The video, however, doesn't show up on the Dell screen -- all I see is black where the video should be.

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What's the resolution of the laptop? The Dell is 1280x768. Possible resolution mis-match.

It's currently set at 1024 by 768. I don't have the option to set it at 1280.

Can you get into video properties in the laptop, and play with "video acceleration"? Default is usually all the way on - try slowing it down and see if there is any change.
