Gurus, I'd appreciate ur help so much.

I'm trying 2 install EMC legato networker on my linux as 4u4 server which is hosting dell TL4000 contains ult3580-td4 tape drive, the interface is SAS via LSI Logic SAS1068 pci-x fusion-mpt card.
After installing the networker, and starting the jbconfig with option #2 it just failed, and when i tried using the 4th option it's telling me: inappropriate ioctl for device,
even the inquire command is telling:
SYSTEM error: failed to set SCSI timeout on device
'/dev/nst0' (Inappropriate ioctl for device)
scsidev@0.6.0: |Disk, /dev/nst0

Sounds so strange??

I'll supply more files once I got ino my office.

First of all only Redhat Enterprise Server 4 and 5 and Suse Enterpriseserver 8-10 are supported with Networker.
as 4u4 is an unknown distribution for me.

If you can not afford a redhat or Suse Enterprise distribution try CentOs its binary compatible with redhat and for free (
I think the sas tape support is the problem, so change to an supported distribution and open a call with emc if the proble.
m still exists.
