Lo all, Hi, I have just purchased an Ispiron 6000 and Ihave managed in a couple of days to wipe the hard drive clean and has you all know by now, Dell no longer ship pc's with the restore disk's, is there any command I can use to try to restore the laptop to it's factory settings?

Cheers Jules

If you wiped the hard drive as in formatting there is no command to restore the os. For when you format your data is gone permately. You can probally order a system disc from there site for your model computer. So call or check on there site for one.

Some Dells have a hidden recovery partition with tools to restore the machine to its factory state. Yours probably had one if it didn't come with setup discs. Check your manual, it should tell you which keys to press to boot it from that partition. Unless, of course, you wiped that too!

Can't say what it might be on a Dll however, it's F11 on startup on an IBM machine.
It's worth at least one attempt

TheGreyOne,
You could make your own Restore CD's.

Borrow a copy of XP from someone and burn a copy.
Then boot from it and install it using your key code that is on your license. You should find a small microsoft sticker probably located on the bottom of the laptop. This is your license with the key code.

Then go here and download the application software and drivers.

Many thanks all, Dell are going to send me out the restore cd's.

Cheers
