I have a couple quick questions I am hoping someone can help me with.

1) On a dell server, can a disk array be moved from one controller to another without data loss? (By move, I mean unplugging the cable from one controller and plugging it into the other.)

2) Where does an integrated Perc 3/DI controller fit in the food chain of DELL Raid controllers? Is it low end?

1). I've never done it but in theory it should work as the RAID info is also stored on the hard drives (otherwise if the controller failed you'd lose the data to). I think there's a procedure to follow though to force the controller to pick up the info from the drives rather than apply it's settings to the drives.

2). I'd say it's about average-good, they tend to be rebadged Adaptec's these days. We've never had a reason to use 3rd party RAID controllers in the 60+ Dell servers we have.
