Hi All:

We just bought a NAS from Dell the 725N, have a question about its Active Archive software, I thought this enable us to do a continues backup of snapshots so in case a user deletes something at 3pm in the afternoon, the backup of that can be restored by 330pm and without to wait until the nightly backup, but it only able to restore the whole drive (volume), if we don't that for one person, everyone's file updated during the day will be effected, can we configure the backup so it has the option to restore only certain directory or file ?

Thanks

The device you purchased is not designed for the use you have choosen. The best alternative is to purchase Executive Softwares Undelete Server for about 300 bucks. You can specify a target for the copy of the deleted file. You can use the NAS device to keep the copy so that you don't fill the local drives with these copies.

it turns out that the NAS has a cool feature, it stores the snapshots inside of a folder, when you go into the snapshot file, it layout exactly like the whole volume is layout so its like its doing a continueous backup on that volume except sometimes the disk gets too busy it doesn't create the snapshot as told, well you can only be so safe depending on how much money you spend, gotta draw a line somewhere.
