Dell Poweredge 4gb RAM not showing correctly up in Win2000 1

I have a new Dell Poweredge 6600 with Win2000 Advanced Server and 4gb of factory Dell ram. When the server POST's it shows the correct amount of ram but when you look in the System Properties General tab in Windows it only shows 3.69 gb of ram.

Has anyone seen this before and could it be causing any unseen problems?

I have seen this before. What does the BIOS show? 4GB? If so, then the Dell system is most likely allocating some memory to PCI hardware, and also to Hot Swap PCI. The hotswap can be turned off in the BIOS.

The second culprit is the PERC3-DC or PERC3-QC. This will allocate some memory to itself, regardless of how you set it in the BIOS.

I hope this helps.
