Dell PowerEdge 2500 - Tape BackUp

When I install a SCSI controller for my tape backup device the computer boots up fine, but one of my ethernet cables is detected as being unplugged.

When I take out the controller, and boot up the system, the ethernet cable is detected as plugged in again.

Please comment.
