Hello, we recently had a power supply in our dell server spark when the power cord was inserted and dell said due to this the server would need to be completely swapped out. Not a problem as faith in the hardware is compromised due to the "sparking incident". So a new server turns up and I am told there is a way that the HDD's (3) can be swapped over and the RAID config copied from the disks to the NVRAM in the server - thus the new hardware would be as the old no dataloss or fuss - Does anyone know the correct procedure for this kind of recovery ?? Having spoken with many dell techs they all seem to have there own idea's and I would rather not take a chance with the data.. help..

I would:
Image the old server.
Create new RAID5 (I assume) on new server.
Load image onto new server.

Once you get a good image, you can try all sorts of things without fear of data loss. If disk-swapping trashes the data, just reload from image.
