Ok, tech support is reseaching at Dell. I tend to believe it is the Sata controller and I need to provide during the inital window's install. Anybody else run into this. Which sata controller driver are you using? Thanks

Exact erro message at blue screen when trying run install from a MS XP install cd:
STOP: 0x0000007b (0xF78D2524,0xc0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000)
Thanks again

Does the setup logging in Windows\setupapi.log tell you which drive controller Windows has found on the system or is having problems with?

Are there hidden recovery partitions on the Dell machine which contain the booting files?

Before you start the install process, obtain and install the latest basic input output system (BIOS) upgrade for your computer from the computer manufacturer. If no Bios update is available set bios to original defaults. Make sure any Bios anti virus scanner is disabled.

If you've got USB devices, unplug them until you're done with the initial install, then plug them in and install them once the system is up and running.

There might be some help in these.
