I have a Dell Latitude C600 with Win 98. The display screen is 14 inches, but I can only get a 5or 6 inch screen. The color is only 16 with extra low resolution. I can't change this to a higher setting like 32 bit color or true color. I thought this was the operating system, as it is missing drivers for PCI which I cannot locate on the win 98 setup disk.

Can anyone help me change the screen to full size?

The problem is win98 and the machine being a Lap Top every laptop I have ever seen with 98 had the same display issue. The best fix I fuond for this is OS upgrade.

Life is a big Roleplaying adventure.

I've had this before, but it wasnt a driver since it happened in the BIOS too, it was the laptop making the screen smaller. The following will only work (and may not help at all) if it is happening in BIOS and during the entire bootup. If it's just a windows issue, you definitely need to find the drivers for that laptop (which would be on Dells website).

If it's a dell laptop, it might be the "FN+F7" thing.

It may be Shift+f7, or F8... or it might be FN and F7 or F8, I honestly forget as it's been a few years.

Try one of those and maybe it'll make the screen bigger, but only if it's happening during the bootup, not just in Windows.

If you visit the Dell web site, it will allow you to enter the tag number of your machine (Which should be on the bottom of your machine or visible in the bios).

This will then list all the drivers which are for that machine. As it is an older machine, I would suggest you download the latest and greatest for all the components, and install them. Your screen should then fill the available area, your network, modem and sound card will also work, which I suspect are not doing at present as they are all PCI devices.

You may think if it isn't broke, don't fix it. Engineers think that if it isn't broke, it doesn't have enough features yet!
