I'm having problems with com1 with hyperterminal. It doesn't give any "not available message", instead it looks like it connects but no traffic back or forth. Any suggestions?

What are you trying to connect to? Windows may have decided to renumber your com port (maybe it reinstalled?)
I had a problem with my onboard Fax. It became COM5. I just looked in Modem Properties. Use whatever is selected.
