I have an Inspirion 2650 lap top using an Actiontec MD56ORD V92 modem. When I first added AOL and connected to the internet everything worked fine and I dowloaded and installed a few programs. Well, for some reason the modem started not connecting to my ISP on a dialup line. I've tried several different things and diagnostics were run and many calls were made to AOL. Aol says it's the modem and every test and indication shows that the modem is working. Has anyone else had this problem?

Sorry for this unhelpfull comment.....but don`t bother using AOL. If your unsure....Dont do it!

Apprently, the problem was not AOL but ZoneAlarm. I have since reserched it with them and waiting an answer. Thanks for the help.

AOL does not support V92s at this moment. I have a really nice Inspiron 8200 2 ghz laptop and I have to use a PC Card modem at V90 to get AOL.

why in god's name do you have a computer that you will never use 15% of it's full potential?

Try using a DUN connection instead of using a software driven connection that destroys files and kills encryption levels in your browsers.

Then you can use the V.92 Modem

I am having the same problems getting into a Perle 833 RAS with the same modem listed above...I am using DUN and I can't seem to find a setting that will work...

Use this init string...

"AT&F+MS=V90"

I got this off Dells web site...but first you have to upgrade the drivers of the modem to the beta tested drivers...
