Dell Hardware Monitoring

Has anyoned used Dell Open manage, I came from a compaq background and found that Compaq Insight Manager Was Very useful in monitoring our hardware. I am looking for some feed back on Dell Open Manage.

Yes I have set it up and using it.

I have to agree with you the Compaq Insight Manager is light years ahead of Dell OpenManage in a number of areas.

Open Manage though is good enough for basic server management. You will need it if there is a hardware issue, Dell will need info from it.

Depends what you want to monitor. I've installed Dell's IT Assistant on a Server and installed Dell OpenManage Server Agent on all of my other servers. This allows me to get hardware info and get informed of errors via SNMP. If you want to Administer the Servers you'll need Dells OpenManager Server Administrator. OpenManage has lots of different options.
