Dell D430 - hard drive ribbon cable zif connector - attach remove 1

I could not find this info on the net, so when I figured it out I decided to document it.

Dell D430 D420 hard drive ribbon cable replacement requires releasing the zif connecter latch.

This latch it very very small. It is the little black plastic piece to the rear of the putty colored ribbon slot on the hard drive.

You pry it up with your finger nail coming at it from the hard drive side edge. That edge rotates up and then the ribbon can be attached or removed. Reverse the process to secure the ribbon.

Oh, sorry.

Without trying the link, I can see what the problem is. MediaFire is a file hosting/uploading site, and as such, it's now filtered where we can't access it at all - so therefore I wouldn't see any inline images from it either.

I'll try and remember to check back at home.
 
... and whatever you do, DON'T break that stupid little latch. :(
