hello-
i inherited a Dell 2600. I was told it had a mirror configuration, but I can't seem to verify that. I can see two drives in the bays, which flicker at the same time. But when i go into disk management (2000 server) it lists one drive as a basic disk. Shouldn't it list both drives and label them as a RAID 0? Or is this a hardware RAID that Windows doesn't recognize.
just a little confused.
thanks in advance.

Windows will just see it as a single drive as it's configured at the hardware level. You should really install Dell OpenManage Array Manager, it replaces the standard Disk Manager in Windows and will give you much better info, including the actual RAID details. You can download free from the Dell web-site although if you use the latest version you'll likely need to flash the firmware on your PERC controller and upgrade the Windows drivers to.

For a quick check you can just reboot the system and go into the PERC controller BIOS during the start-up (usually Ctrl-M I think but you get prompted), you can view the disk/RAID container info there.

great- thanks for the info.
i'll dl that utility.
