I mean, if I buy a server and can't install an OS on it, everyone will be laughing !

I am planning to get a Dell 1750, 2 Xeon procs, 2Go RAM, 2x73 Go SCSI, RAID 1, and install Linux Mandrake on it : Will it work ?

It will be a Java application server (Tomcat + MySQL).
Thanks in advance,

Flaner

I can't think of any reason why it would not work. I have a 4600 w/ 2 xeons, 4GB RAM, and 8x15000RPM 36GB drives in a RAID 10 running RedHat 7.3 without any issues.

Worst case, you'll need to rebuild the kernel (which I assume you are planning on doing anyway) because though PERC drivers are shipped with the kernel, I'm not sure if they're part of the pre-built Mandrake kernels.
