Right now I make my LD and Int calls via regular T1-s. I asked my Telco to assign a uniform caller ID to all of my outgoing calls. But I want to change that. I want to somehow assign different caller ID-s to outgoing calls. I'm working with a 2400ICS. All staff who make a ld / international calls by entering a phone code after the numbers dialed.

So I want to know if it is possible and how. I understand that I may have to order ISDN-PRI-s from Telco, so that I have control over what caller ID to send out. But still, how can I define the caller ID? Based on what? Station making the call? Or the phone code used? Or Feature Class of Serv? And in most cases, the extension number will have nothing to do with the number that should be shown...Like extension 41241 has the DID of 727-487-5098 (not real life numbers, just a fake example). How can I deliver this Caller ID on my outgoing calls?

Now another thing here: I have an Asterisk box, that I could use to send the calls out through, and it's using SIP trunking. That gives me a great deal of freedom in Caller ID, but I'm just not that thrilled with sound quality of SIP trunking on International calls. Also, I want to keep this feature as transparent to users as possible. I don't want to have them dial specific codes, numbers, etc in addition to what they already have to dial.

So, anybody has ideas?

You are able to determine what is sent to the CO using the Commands ACND and ACNP. ACNP Determines Which route is assigned which calling pattern. ACND is where you create the calling pattern. For example if you have a station number 9876 but you want the display to be 2025551212 when you dial out on 10 in ACNP program route 10 to CNP 1. In ACND enter the same CNP as ACND skip 4 (station digits) and add 10 2025551212. This has been the way since the IMX days and i am not sure if it goes as far back as the ICS. You will still probably have to notify the telco that you are wanting to send your own ANI.

Do I need ISDN PRI for that or can I do it with the 24DTR T1 cards?

PRI is the way to go with any ANI functionality. The D-Channel is what enables this.

OK, good. So, I can change my T1-s to PRI. All that sounds promising, but can I do that for any number of station (I need it for about 150 different stations actually), to assign different ANI to them? From what you describe, it looks like the ANI is set on a per-route basis, which would mean I have to reserve a route for each station?

if you want the station number displayed, in ACND Skip 0 and add you area code and office code. This will display your ANI to the station. You will need to make sure all outbound routes are assigned to the same CNP.

Problem solved. I didn't put down in my question, but I have an SV8500 in the same pbx room, for our future expansion plans. The old ICS2400 and the new SV8500 are CCIS connected. So from the ICS, I route all outgoing calls to the SV8500, which, in turn, routes them to telco.

And the SV8500 has this wonderful command ACPNCL. Here you can give the calling station number, and a caller ID to be delivered with the call.

There can be some 65535 different entries. That should cover my needs. Thanks for your help NECPBXtech30.
