I have a table in Access 2000 that I imported from a text file. The original text file was delimited with the "|" symbol for several reasons. One of them is that the comma was used as a character in some of the fields.

Now my challenge is to seperate some of the comma sepertated text. What I'm specifically trying to do is seperate a name field that will have at least one comma, but may have more. I want to seperate the field at the first comma only.

Here are some example names:
Smith, John
Robert, Michael, M.D
Jones, Sally, MPH, Ph.D, M.S

So there may be a few commas or there may be just the one.

I can't do this manually, there are just over 78000 records.

Any tips are appreciated. _____________
