I have a folder on a external storage and i'm attempting to delete a folder. but i'm getting an error message saying access is denied. i've logged in with the admin password and get the same error. ive tried with a dos command same error.the security properties for the folder is missing. i cant take ownership,.. i just want to delete this folder any ideas.

Does the folder exist within a deep directory tree that is > 255 chars? This would account for some of the issues you are having. If so try using the DOS SUBST command to shorten the path to the folder

No its under 255. its strange why im not able to delete.

get a linux live cd (knoppix, ubuntu), boot from it, mount the external hdd with read/write access and then delete it.
