Hope someone can clue me in. Im pretty new at this. I need to take a file off my page. I have no clue on how to
do this. I read some of the other questions on the site. And people say all they get is an error. I dont even get that far haha. where do I begin on doing this? I tried just deleting the folder for that site. It doesn't work...so if some can please clue me in, I would surely appreciate it. Thanks bunches!!!!!

Ohiolighthouse,
Have you tried [File], [Open Web]? Then go to [View], [Navigation]. With the Navigation View up, try right clicking on the folder that you wish to remove. You should see a pop up window with two choices. The first is "Remove this page and all the pages below it from all navigation bars". The second should be "Delete this page and all the pages below it from the Web".

Otherwise, you might try CuteFTP or WS_FTP and just go in and *NUKE* that one file.

I've used both methods. With FrontPage it is better to try and get it done in the program, that way your links will stay intact.

Deleting the folder on the web site won't do it if the original still exists on your computer. When you update the site, it'll upload the folder or file again. You need to delete the file from your web folder on your computer.

In FrontPage, click the Folders button to display the folders (or View>Folders). You can then search from there for your file and delete it.

Use the Publish to web button. FrontPage will prompt you to confirm deletion of the file or folder.

I must sound like a real moran about now. I dont know if I have the same version of frontpage as you both. But I cannot find any place to "view folders" or a "navigation". I am totally lost at this point. I dont even get the "split screen" or to any point for wizard asking me about deleting. Where do I go from here. Lost and confused haha.

Ack! Linda, you are so right... late nite here... it would not have removed the file on the hard drive until publishing the web.

But usually before doing that, I will go into my hard drive and rename that web folder to MY_WEB_NAME_BACKUP. I like to keep a spare on the hard drive. Then after I've saved on the web I can either import or publish. Unless of course it's a monster site.

Ok Ohio, what is your version? Do you see the Words at the very top of FP *File* *Edit* *View* and at the very end the word *Help*? Click on Help, About... what's the version?

Delete the page from YOUR computer.
Then publish your website again. The deleted page will be gone.

ok...I have the cuteftp program. I went and deleted most things. Do I remove absolutely everything? The public folder? Im doing the whole website all over. I have everything I want saved in a different folder. The only thing that I did leave is the "public folder". I was afraid to delete that without knowing for sure. Thanks all
I do aprreciate it!
