I have internet access at work and want to delete Temp Internet files. Via Tools, Internet options, then TIF settings, I can highlight all files, but when hit delete from File Menu, I get "this is cookie do you want to delete" constantly and it takes a long time, Any quicker ways?

Deleting Temporary Internet files from NT and IE 4.0 1

right click on the ie icon and click properties then click delete on temporary internet files

Even when you do this you will still be left with some files, to get rid of everything completely, start DOS and enter the following commands, (each command is followed by the 'Enter' key...
cd winnt
deltree tempor~1
this will delete everything, and believe me there is stuff in there that you never even knew you had!!! Jay~

DOS can be started by going to Start->Programs->Command Prompt and you will be presented with a black, blank screen with the text C:\> this is telling you that you are in the C: of you PC, if you typr DIR and press enter, you will see a list of all files in the C:\, even the ones that are hidden, like those pesky temp internet files!!
so when you are at C:\> type
cd winnt and then press Enter
RD tempor~1 and then press Enter again
and then you will have deleted everything
When you are finished in DOS you can type exit and you will return to windows.
There are also more files that are not accessable, if you use Windows Explorer to go to
C:\winnt\profiles\yourname\Local Settings
you will see a folder for Temp internet files, just click on it and delete it.
That should get rid of 'em!!!!! Jay~

KeyTech, when I used Command to get into DOS I followed your instructions,but after I typed cd winnt- Enter, I got the following " name specified is not recognised as a Internal or External command"
I then tried Windows Explorer and when I right clicked on the actual TIF file and hit delete I got the following message " Temporary Internet folder is a system folder, If you delete Windows may no longer work"
I then went into the actual TIF and tried to delete and got the same message as at the beginning of this thread, which runs for ages as every file is a cookie.

sorry didnt mean to post that last one......was working on website and somehow magaged to post that!?!?!?! anyway,
Im not sure what is happening there, that message only comes up when you type in a wrong command,
hope I dont sound condescending but are you sure you are typing the following (without the inverted commas)
"cd winnt"
that should bring you into the winnt folder in your C:try typing dir and see what comes up?? you should see a list of names and things, thats all the files and folders on your C Drive.

yea but it wont get them all, with out doing a find in the current folder
which can be done by going to the Temp internet files folder, and deleting everything in there, then in that folder, press control key and 'f' <ctrl>+F and search for *.* and that will find the other files in the Content.ie5 folder.
also not that if you are using Exchange server, all the files are stored in a folder on the server, located at C:\urlcache\ but you gotta have admin rights to get in there, if you do, you can access it from your PC, by going to Network Neighbourhood->Server->C where Server is the name of your Server, if the C is not there, and it most likely wont be, that means that its not shared out. There is a default share you can go to.....
If you hit the button in your toolbar (leave the mouse over them to see a description) called Map Network Drive, you will get a window, ignore the first one, which will have an option of H:\ or some letter, and in the next one type \\Server\C$ and press enter, this will bring you into the default share of your servers C drive, where you can delete the 4 or 5 Dir folders in the urlcache. But as I said you must have admin rights, or at least know the password.
