One of my techs was backing up a SQL server database using DTS. He was copying from a Windows 2003 server to a Windows 2000 server. I believe both servers had SQL 2000 on them. He was using DTS and got a couple of error messages. He is certain he was copying in the correct direction. He ended up with the tables in the source database empty! We have a backup from a couple of days back.

I am concerned about how this can happen? It does not make sense to me.

Hmmm .... My first thoughts were already relayed by your statement of "Which Direction"!!!

Thanks

And why were you trying to backup like this?

Cursors are useful if you don't know sql.
DTS can be used in a similar way.
