Can anyone shed any light on this problem.

I have had Sent Items started disappearing from my Sent Items folder. I have been advised to set up a rule, to MOVE any new sent items to a new folder. This I have done. However, it appears that the Move To Folder is not working, but rather acts like a Link To Folder, as the original email is still kept in the Sent Items folder as well as being in the folder I've just created for my moved sent items... This isn't really the fault - this is just some background to what I am trying to achieve.

OK, so now I have 2 copies of my sent items - 1 in sent items and the other in my newly created folder. I don't need 2 entries of the same email, so I delete the one in the Sent Items. This is deleted ALONG with the COPY in the new folder. For this reason, I get the feeling that the Move To action in Rules is working as a Link To action. Surely, a Move To should put a copy in the nwe folder and delete the one from the Sent Items by itself? Any ideas would be most appreciated - it's taken me ages to actually convince any of our techies here that this is a problem and is not by design.

I am running GroupWise 5.5 Enhancement Pack - Program Release 5.5.3.1 (03/03/2000) and I am running Windows 2000 Professional O/S

From my understanding of the Sent Items folder, it is a filter that is saved as a folder. If you ever delete the sent items folder you have to go and make a filter then save that filter as a folder. I believe that there is only one copy of a sent item on the system, if you delete it from the sent items folder you delte it from all areas on your GroupWise mailbox. I don't know of a way to save the sent item on the system without keeping it in the sent items folder.

David is pretty much right, it is actually looking for items defined in the "Find" options. That is, if you right click on the Sent folder > properties, you will see General, Display & Find tabs. In the Find tab, the 'Item source' is "Sent" and on the right side of this window is where GW will look for sent items. If you expand your mailbox you will see check boxes in all the places GW defaults to look. You can uncheck any or all of them (the actual Sent Items folder is grayed out along with the Trash folder). When you make copies in a folder then delete the original the copy will stay.

It works, try it.

Cheers,
Mark ;-)
