Deleting Old Inventory Items w/ history

I need help with Inventory. How do I go about deleting old or in-active inventory items that have Transaction Detail? I just started working for this company and they have over 3000 inventory items and about 600 items are currently being used or active. Is there a way to delete one by one or some global feature to delete a range of items.

There is an inventory delete/renumber/merge utility under the setup menu. You can mass delete items there. Make a backup before you do, as once you delete items, they are gone (no "undo button").

Also people have to be out and you need things posted.
