I have an old logo in my PDF document that needs to be deleted. Is there any protocol for deleting? I can select the graphic with the Image Select tool but cannot remove the logo. I am using Acrobat 6.0 Thanks
If you have image editing software installed, you can use the "Touch Up Object" function.
Acrobat 6.0 has a very confusing interface, so this tool might be hard to find.
Here's one route: Tools | Advanced Editing | Touch Up Object Tool.
Select the image, then right-click and select "Edit Image". Acrobat extracts the image and fires up, oh, Photoshop or Illustrator, presumbably whatever you have, but I'm not sure how widely Acrobat supports other programs.
Edit your image, and then "save"... and Acrobat updates the PDF with the revised image.
Duh... you don't want to edit, you want to delete. Even easier. Once selected, right-click and select "Delete" instead of "Edit Image".
1) I tried as suggested and here is what happened when I select the image and right click I do not have a Delete option. In most other programs when you right click you have a delete option why do they have to be different?
2) When I go through the edit sequence to "Touch Up Text Tool" I do get a delete option when I right click however all the functions in the pop up box are de-activated....?
I guess this is the problem, I have the Standard version which does not have the required features. The only image editing program I have is Adobe Photoshop Elements. Many thanks for helping figure this one out. Next time I will make sure I get the Professional version.
You might be able to edit the PDF in PhotoShop Elements. I know you can in "regular" Photoshop. The problem is that it rasterizes the file, so your text becomes an image fixed at a specific resolution.
Though I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS!!... you can hand-edit the PDF. Find and delete the offending object. This can be trial and error if you're not familiar with PostScript and PDF. It will break the file, but often Acrobat can repair the damage.
PDFs are a collection of "objects" and a cross-reference to where in the file the objects are. If you delete an object, you throw everything off. Acrobat can often repair this.
Again, this is a last resort, and if you decide to poke around inside your PDF, make sure you have a good backup copy.
I know this is not really solving the problem, but could you place a white button over the top of the logo, then re-distill the file? You could copy over your existing fields to the new document.
