I have a worksheet with a link to another spreadsheet which actually doesnt exist anymore. I still have a reference to the link though and as a result get an error when updating the other links. I know there is actually no cell in the worksheet which references this other one so i cant actually delete anything but it still comes up. Anyone got any ideas?

I cannot tell you HOW many times this has driven me nuts when working on a broken spreadsheet until I figured out how to get rid of it.

1) Go to Edit Links.
2) Highlight the offending link file that no longer exists.
3) Change the source back to the file you are working on.

If Edit Links is greyed out, make a link to a temporary file, and repeat the steps above.

That should do it.

Thanks very much that has just worked and my problem no longer exists. Is that just a fault in Ecxel then?

Sometimes when the link is deleted Excel still thinks there is one. But after looking and looking .... it's nowhere to be found.

It must be a feature.
