Hi all,

Nowadays, lots of spam is entering our mailboxes. I have already created a rule to get rid of most of those silly things.
One, however, I still have to tackle, but can't find a solution: empty subjects.
I've added this condition to my 'spam rule', where the condition is simply an empty subject line.
But, when I activate this rule, it not only deletes empty subject emails, but also all the other ones.
Result: I don't see any email anymore.
Apparently, whenever a space is in the email, it throws it away with this rule.

Hence my question:
Does anyone know how to set up a rule in Lotus Notes (release 5.0.9a) that deletes incoming e-mail that has no subject filled in?

Be aware I can only set up rules, Agents are disabled by our company.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

How did you specify "empty", given that if the condition is empty, you cannot validate the rule ?

Unfortunately, there is no way to qualify an empty subject using rules. Now, if you go to you will see that a number of people are sounding off on rules and their limitations. Add your voice and hope for the best.

Pascal.

Hi Pascal,

To define my empty string, I've used both "" as well as the '' and finally a really empty string.

Only the latter two were accepted by Lotus Notes, the former one gave a syntax error message on the screen.

However, none of the above mentioned 'tricks' helped.

I will, however, do what you mentioned and follow the link you gave me.

Rgds,
