Help. Is there anyway of deleting a RTF file when someone is viewing it? I am using the FileSystemObject DeleteFile and it works fine when the file is closed but does not function when someone has the file open.

I am attempting to publish an updated report daily and want to overwrite the information regardless if a person is viewing or not. By the way, is there a way to show a message to the user of the file that it will be deleted in 20 seconds?

Thanks for the help.

No. Why not save the file with the date included in the filename, or modify a copy of the file from your computer and save it wherever you want, or not allow others read permission on the development directory.

Every time I say no somebody figures out a way. It may require extensive windows programming or result in 3 weeks of development time but, it's the challenge.

Thanks for the reply. I could add the date, but I fear this will confuse people (i.e. choosing the previous day file and looking at outdated information). I agree it appears complex but where there is a will there is a way. I will continue pondering and please keep me in mind if you think of another solution.

Regards.
