deleting files

OK this question might seem silly but i have a problem as usual. My website is huge. As a result i am deleting layers and frames and re organizing my site. But for some reason when i delete the layers and frames my file size does not get any smaller. why is my file size not getting any smaller? What can i do to actually make the file smaller.

If you mean the size of the .fla, not of the new outputed .swf, then when you've deleted stuff from the Library, you should saved your .fla under a new name.
The actual new size will then be reflected, otherwise it won't.

If you're talking about the .swf, then it's most likely that what you've deleted, wasn't part of your outputed movie anyways.
