When I update links in a particular excel spdsht, the word 'calculate' does not disappear from the bottom of the page (the grey status bar). I have 2 dead links that I need to get rid of but I can't delete them. How do I get rid of the links and get the calculate sign off the bottom of the sheet?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

What do you mean you cannot delete them?

When you open the spreadsheet, Excel should prompt you to click Yes or No to either update the links or keep the existing information. If you click "No", then you should be able to remove the links without any problem.

There are 2 types of links (as far as I am aware) in Excel. The first is a link from another spreadsheet and it can be, either a cell or an object. The second is a link from an external source such as an Access database.

In both cases, I have been able to delete the link by deleting the data extracting (or calculated) through the link.

If you want to keep the data, a simple copy and paste should suffice.
