Deleting connectors: Exch 5.5 SP4

Has anyone deleted "MS Mail Connector" or "Connector for cc:Mail"?

These connectors are not being used but installed, seems like good system maintenance to remove them.

If you have deleted these connectors, where there any difficulties?

Can it be done without bringing mail or servers down? We have 1600 users, and our email service is high profile.
