Hi,
I tried using the database configuration assistant to delete an Oracle instance, but I'm getting an ORA-12560 error. What should I do to fix this? I already created a separate instance so I just want to drop this other one.

Another thing is: I want to completely uninstall Oracle and get rid of everything so I can just do a fresh install. Unfortunately, the database instance doesn't go away as well.

Any help is appreciated.

If on Windows ( providing version and OS would be nice) use
oradim -delete servicename

[profile]

The instance itself is only a service which can be deleted from the registry.
You'll have also to modify listener.ora and delete the datafiles, controlfiles and redologs.
You can find them querying these views:

v$controlfile - control files
v$logfile - redo logs
v$datafile - data files

Connected as SYS of course.
