We are running exchange 2000. My boss forgot his password and simply"deleted" himself and then put himself back in. Now of course he lost all of his old e mail as well as his calender and contacts list. Is there anyway to recover this info from the server? His personal pc was lost in a flood in our business a month ago which is why he forgot his password and tried to gain access himself through administrator (I should have smelled a rat when he asked me for the administrator password). Anyway we have no back up in place (although now it too is authorized), so I am begging for some help! All he does is store e mails, contacts, and his calender.

Did he purge his account in the Exchange System Manager? If so and no backup, SOL. If not, you can reconnect his old account to his new one...

Thanks,

He removed himself as a user in active directory and then added himself back in through active directory. So is there any hope?

First of all, this belongs in the Exchange 2000 forum, not here Please be sure to post to the correct forum after first searching the forum and it's associated FAQ's first.

To your question, open the SA in Exchange and run a cleanup, see if his old mailbox shows up as having been deleted. If it has, create a dummy account and attach his old mailbox to the dummy account, then open it and export to a PST, then import into his new mailbox.

I apologize for using the wrong forum and also for not knowing quit how to do what you are recommending. If you would be so kind as to "walk" me through it I would GREATLY appreciate it! Thanks for your help!

If I go into exchange system manager>servers>first storage group>mailbox store>mailboxes It looks like I see his old mail box as well as his current box. If I highlight the "disabled" box I get the option to reconnect it but when I try to I get the message
/0=NAME/OU=FIRST ADMINISTRATIVE
GROUP/CN=RECIPIENTS/CN=NAME
The specified value is used by'name'

Facility:Exchange System Manager
ID no:c1038af7
Exchange System Manager

Does any of this make sense?

You'll have to delete his new mailbox first before you can connect the old one to his user account. In Active Directory right click his user account and select 'Exchange Tasks', then delete his mailbox...
