So I am stumped. MM 4.0 2-MAS and 1-MSS
I removed an old subscriber a few weeks back. Since then a new hire has taken his place. I created a new mailbox. Now the subscriber says he heres the old subscribers name when he goes to setup his mailbox. So I started testing and here is what I got. I get MM playing the computerized name when I login. I change the password and recorded the name wait 5 minutes call back and her the original users name so I login and leave a message for my mailbox when I go to check it I get the computerzied name again when I use an AA I have setup to cover straight to voicemail I get the old users name again. I am finding no rhyme or reason to this issue. I have exported all the subscriber information and do not see the extension anywhere else. I have duoble and triple checked the mailbox and everything is correct yet this old ghost user haunts me.

Did you do a delete mailbox, wait for the 1027 event to be seen on all MAS, then readd the mailbox?
Or did you delete and then readd within minutes of deletion?
You can get the database on the MSS confused with the later method that requires Linux level repair?

If you changed the name only on the mailbox, then go to the Subscriber Directory on the Mailbox form to change all occurrences of the name in fields: email handle, common name and ASCII Version of Name.

sounds like it is acting one way on MAS1 and another way on MAS2. open the OHV and look to see what MAS id answering the call and how it acts on each one.

You need to look at the FEDB on both MAS's to see if they match.

kepetersen as stated I deleted the old subscriber weeks ago. at least 2 weeks passed before the extension and mailbox were reassigned.

KenMeans FEDB do not match and I do not have FEDBSYNC in the tools folder. Is it located somewhere else on R4.0?

if you dont have it you will need to download it from the support site.

It is called mss_mas_fedbrebuild.exe is the file. Make sure you get the one for Rel 4.0

Avaya Modular Messaging 3.1/4.0 Front End Database (FEDB) Resync Tool
Download Type:
Software
Date Released:
Feb 14, 2007
Summary:

INTRODUCTION

For MM 3.1 and 4.0, there is an MAS Front End Database (FEDB) Resynchronization tool that is needed during the Staged upgrade process. This tool should only be used by Avaya Engineers, an Avaya certified Business Partner, or as instructed by Avaya Support. The usage of this tool will result in an outage on the MAS.

INSTALLATION AND USE

Download the zip file FEDB rebuild.zip from Unzip the file which will result in obtaining MSS_MAS_FEDB_Rebuild.exe.
Copy MSS_MAS_FEDB_Rebuild.exe to C:\Avaya_Support\Tools on the MAS.
Stop the Messaging Application Server Service on the MAS.
Navigate to C:\Avaya_support\Tools and double click on the MSS_MAS_FEDB_Rebuild.exe file.

Several changes will be made to the configuration of the MAS.

Start the Messaging Application Server Service on the MAS.

A 1030 event in the Application log will display that a full FEDB resynchronization has started and all telephony ports will be disabled automatically. When complete, a 1027 event will summarize the update and the ports will automatically be re-enabled. Depending on the number of local and networked subscribers this process can take a considerable time to complete.

Repeat steps 3 through 6 for each MAS in the Voice Mail Domain.

The download file size is 45.9 KB.
