A family member of mine was trying to clean up the computer. Turns out, Office Professional 2003 was deleted. The reason, he says, is because the program in the list said "Setup Files", and so he figured it wouldn't delete the entire thing. It did though.

Turns out that I still have a program to launch Word It says that I don't have the proper stuff installed to use it though.

Is there any way I can get it back? He completely deleted the files, not just recycle bin deleted. He went into the list of installed programs and deleted it from there.

Thanks!

P.S.

I don't have money to spend on deleted file recovery programs either. I also don't have any disk or anything of when the program was originally installed on here.

Sounds like you're out of luck. If you don't have the original media, and you don't have any backups, your family member has probably learnt an expensive lesson.

First port of call should be the supplier of the version of Office you originally installed - that may be the supplier of the computer, depending on how Office was bought. Microsoft do offer a procedure for replacing disks if you can prove you are entitled, and your supplier no longer exists - see for details of how this works, and what is needed as proof of entitlement.

Enjoy,
Tony

Ok so you have lost the disk but do you have the product key? I doubt anyone here will help you if you can't convince us that this was a legitimate copy.

I didn't buy the computer, nor did I set it up. I'm assuming it came with the computer.

It is possible that they (and you I suppose) are going to (hopefully) learn that expensive lesson. Do not delete/"clean up" things if you do not actually know what you are doing.

If you have no disks, and the files are fully deleted, it could be difficult to postively determine that you are legitimately entitled.

Methinks you are out of luck.

install Belarc Advisor (Belarc.com) run it and see if it picks up your key.

if it does, follow the advice above on contacting MS.
